Event Description
While responding to a motor vehicle accident, a vehicle(SUV) pulled from the right hand shoulder and almost struck the side of our engine. The vehicle pulled from the right shoulder so close to the pumper that I(driver) lost sight of the entire vehicle. According to crew members seated on the officer's side of the engine, the civilian vehicle came within only a few inches of striking us in the cab.
Lesson Learned
Always have an out. Expect the unexpected from drivers. Drive with due regard.
