Event Description
While responding to a call years ago, I was standing up putting on my breathing apparatus, a standard practice in those days. The driver suddenly swerved causing me to lose my balance. I was falling backwards on a busy stretch of road when another firefighter in the bucket next to me saw me starting to fall off the piece. He reached over and grabbed me at the last possible second.
Lesson Learned
Always sit and wear your seat belt while the apparatus is moving.
