Event Description
On a return from a run, a reserve (member) with our department was let out to back the engine into the bay. As the (member) shut the cab door, the driver began to pull forward before backing up and noticed the reserve walking in front of the apparatus. The driver stopped quickly, never striking the crew member.
Lesson Learned
Because this person is not a regular with our station and not familiar with the daily routine of the station, the person did not know to walk to the back of the truck. Myself being the driver should have been more cautious and made sure I knew exactly where the person was located before moving the apparatus.
