Event Description

At a training incident an engine company began to lay a 5 inch supply line from a hydrant. The proper placement of the engine required it to make a sweeping arc as supply line came out of the hose bed. A firefighter was standing just inside the supply line while the engine company was still in motion. If the supply line had hung on something causing it to tighten the firefighter would have been caught by it throwing him to the ground with possible injury. Thankfully this incident did not turn out bad.

Lesson Learned

Be aware of supply line placement and your position in relation to equipment in motion.
